Subject: Rhymney Valley D. C. 26 (B26 ADW) Chassis: Leyland Tiger TRBTL11/2RP Body: East Lancs DP47F Location: Caerphilly, Market Street Date: 30–Aug-1986
There seems to have been a view when setting up the arms-length "Inter Valley Link" that the old livery was too conservative and a result a new scheme was introduced as seen here. It did not look good when it was first applied, nor has it aged well!
Deregulation is still a couple of months away and services are running in the more traditional way, or at least since 1968 in this case. 26 is on the long run to Merthyr Tydfil from Newport. Rhymney Valley and its predecessors had only run originally as far as Rhymney Bridge but as part of the timetable changes introduced with the Gwent Vales MAP scheme on 26-Oct-1980 all buses on the 149 and 150 ran through to Tredegar or Merthyr Tydfil respectively.
