Passing along the long terraces of Brook Street which constitue a significant part of the settlement of Blaenrhondda, HR6071 works a 520 to Pontypridd. The service was still crew-operated at this date.

The impressive hills to be found at the head of the Rhondda Fawr are more distant than the man-made hills seen above the bus that were the spoil tips from Fernhill Colliery. These were right by the terminus and have subsequently largely been removed.
