From a time when just about everything at Porth, apart from the coaches and dual-purpose vehicles, was in BET red, we see a reasonably-new 517 at rest in the depot.

The destination looks a little odd on one of this batch as Rhondda stopped operating the normal Ynysybwl service before these arrived, but there were still works journeys and it is likely that 517's previous journey was a trip from Nantgarw/Treforest to Ynysybwl.
