DD142-10

Subject: Western Welsh 317 (VKG 317)
Chassis: Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1
Body: Weymann L37/33F
Location: Nantgarw, Cardiff Road
Date: 11-Aug-1973

This spot was once an important junction as the road going off to the right was the road to Caerphilly until road layout changes in the area associated with the building of the A470(T). Just off-camera to the right was the Cross Keys Hotel, now closed, which was a fare stage on all the services that passed though here.

The original A470 road can be seen behind 317 in use mainly for parking, whilst further back is Nantgarw Colliery and Coking Plant. The bus is rejoining the original road which had recently been re-designated A4054.

317 displays the Johnson's Nut Clusters advertising around the front destination display that was also popular on Rhondda's Regent Vs
