Subject: Volvo demonstrator L829 HEF
Chassis: Volvo B10B-58
Body: Alexander Strider B51F
Location: Cardiff, St. Mary Street
Date: 16-Apr-1994

This Volvo demonstrator visited Rhondda Buses for a short period. The B10B was a step-entrance city bus chassis which didn't have a very long production run as it was soon superseded by the B10BLE low-entry version as the move towards low floor buses gained momentum. L829 HEF was produced about half way through the model's production and did not win any custom from Rhondda Buses.

Seen passing the Morgan Arcade in Cardiff, it is working in from Maerdy. The driver, unusually, hasn't yet set the display for the return working on the X9 to Penrhys. This may be because the number blinds are on the nearside and not possible to reach from the cab! Probably in the light of adverse comment from operators to whom it had demonstrated, when it was sold to Nottingham City Transport as their 762 this was changed so they were on the offside.
