This is a fascinating photograph showing Dovestone reservoir under construction in June 1963, with Bank Lane running across the photograph. The outfall in the foreground is now used to generate hydro-electricity on a small scale.

I like a challenge and set out to identify the bus, something which proved easier than expected due it having quite an unusual body. It was new as Bristol C3096 (EHY 558) and was originally a Bristol K5G with Bristol H30/26R body, new in May 1938 for tram replacement. It was rebodied in June 1949 by Welsh Metal Industries, one of only two with this design of body. After withdrawal both ended up with A. E. Farr, the contractor doing the work, but as the other vehicle was withdrawn in 1960 I can be confident which vehicle this is.
