Framed by signs in the then-current NCB corporate colours is RS4367 heading down the valley. Taff Merthyr colliery started production in 1926 and was the last new deep mine sunk by Powell Duffryn. The Trelewis Drift Mine was a 1954 addition. Coal production ceased on 30th October 1992.
