After withdrawal in 1958 17 became a training bus for a few months and may be in that role here. It has received rubber-mounted glazing in the front windows and destination box, changing its appearance.
Sister vehicle 18 retained front ventilators to the end but 17 seems to have lost them very early on, if they were ever fitted at all. Compared to 18 it has two side ventilators upstairs instead of one and this may have been to compensate for the loss of the front ones. A single side ventilator was part of the utility body specification when it was built.
