Another view taken to show the Robinson staircase fitted to these trams. This view illustrates one safety benefit of this staircase, which was the clearer visibility for the driver, particularly considering that passengers were expected to use the rear staircase.

Arthur Ellis, the Manager shown on the legal lettering, was appointed as Borough Electrical Engineer and Manager of the Electric Lighting and Tramways Department in 1900. He helped shape Cardiff's tram system and remained in post until 1920 when he moved into private practice.
