78 later moved to Bedwas and received the later livery along with Caerphilly Busways fleet names. The fleet name is on two lines and shorter which would allow advertising under the windows although that is not present here.
Despite moving to a depot where the only large buses were Volvos, this has still got the front dash for a Dennis fitted when at Porth.
Seen at the turning circle at Senghenydd, by this time there were other route variations in this area. Just two journeys a day served Upper Brynhyfryd Terrace and didn't call here, whilst one bus an hour (worked by Cardiff) ran a loop via Cenydd Terrace which involved climbing the road behind the bus. These journeys called in at the turning circle after completing that loop.
In case some find the photograph familiar, it appeared on the cover of BUSES magazine for March 1998, which contained an article I wrote on Rhondda Buses. By chance the article was written before the Stagecoach takeover but published immediately afterwards, which required some last-minute rewording!
