9 was one of just two Karrier trolleybuses bought by Portsmouth, the other having a Metro-Cammell body. This one had English Electric control gear and motor (the other being BTH).

Like the other early nrolleybuses it was stored from 1940 to 1946. It was one of the earliest withdrawals, last running in 1949.
