Subject: Portsmouth C. T. 3 (RV 4651) Chassis: AEC 661T Body: English Electric H26/24R Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr Works Date: 1934
The first four of the experimental trolleybuses were virtually identical, the main doiffernces being in the detail construction of the motor and the associated changes to control equipment. It was therefore presumably only considered necessary to tilt test one of the four.
3 is seen here during the test, with the witnessing figures visible as rather stylised reflections in the front nearside dash panel.
3, renumbered 203 in 1938, did not see much use after the early years. It was stored from 1940 to 1946 and withdrawn in 1950.
