Subject: Stagecoach Manchester 261 (TJI 2488) Chassis: Leyland National 11351/1R/SC Body: Leyland National DP48F Location: Ardwick, Bennett Street yard Date: late-1990s
The erstwhile KDW 347P received the new registration seen here during its time in Manchester. That time has just about run out but it is not the end as the bus's career will continue with the Birmingham Coach Company.
The Birmingham Bus Company went onto become Diamond Bus and as such now operates in Manchester as a Bee Network franchisee, although Hyde Road depot (of which this yard was part) is run by Metroline.
This yard was originally the permanent way yard for Manchester Corporation Tramways and was later used for storing withdrawn vehicles before become a driver training area. It was used as the start venue for the Trans Pennine Run for historic commercial vehicles for several years.
