The night of Friday, March 24th 1972 saw the last trolleybuses operate in normal service in this country. The last trolleybus from Thornbury (712) had been at tea-time in line with the normal service pattern, leaving services to Thornton and Duckworth Lane.
Four trolleybuses were in use on the last evening, with 706 and 735 on the 8 and 712 and 843 on the 7.
The last journey of all was operated by 843, which worked the 2257 to Thornton then returned to Four Lane Ends before taking the wires up Squire Lane to get back to the depot and the waiting crowds.
