Subject: National Welsh MD1394 and MD1395 (GTX 761W and GTX 762W) Chassis: Bristol LHS6L Body: ECW DP27F Location: Porth depot Date: 24-Mar-1983
A contrast here between an example in fleet livery and one bearing the Skyliner livery, posed near the entrance to the depot outside the bottom shed. MD1395 actually ran at first in normal fleet livery and only received this livery later.
National Welsh were clearly struggling later to find anything for these buses to do and a couple of years later more were in the mothball fleet, including these two, than allocated to depots. They were sold when quite young, the Bustler invasion rendering them completely redundant, but found many willing buyers. This ensured their survival and currently, surprisingly, both these vehicles survive in preservation.
