Subject: Western Welsh UC5367 (JBO 165E)
Chassis: AEC Reliance 6MU4R
Body: Plaxton Panorama C40F
Location: Merthyr Tydfil, Castle Street
Date: 13-Jul-1977

About two years and several feet beyond Leyland Leopard LUH 171F seen in another photo on this site, UC5367 is on the same working to Liverpool and still showing X71 on the blind, albeit with a National Express 871 sticker in the windscreen.

This batch of Reliances were new as 36-seat touring coaches but had been re-seated to 40 seaters over the winter 1970/71. It's a shorter coach than the Leopard, something that is most noticeable in the length of the first window over the fron axle.

New as 165, this coach became UC467 in 1974 and then UC5367 in 1975. Although two of the batch were downgraded to dual-purpose this one remained as a coach until its withdrawal in 1979. It saw further use with Ystrad Mynach Majorettes Jazz Band who ran it until about the end of 1987.
