Subject: North Western 672 (AJA 141) Chassis: Bristol L5G Body: Weymann B35R Location: Liverpool, Russell Street Date: 1956
Parked up in Liverpool is what can best be described as a portmanteau bus. The chassis was new as 941 in 1938 with a standard North Western ECW B31R body. The original 672 was a Leyland Tiger TS7 which was new with a second-hand Harrington body off one of the 1931 Leyland Tigers 504 to 515. It received this new Weymann body in 1948 and eventually the chassis/body combination seen here met up in 1953/4.
The story doesn’t end there, though! Renumbered 92 in October 1955, the body was removed and fitted to a postwar L5G chassis in 1956. The chassis, new in 1946, was registered BJA 416 and had originally been numbered 116 and fitted with a Brush B35R body. It ran as 92 until finally withdrawn in 1961.
