JLJ1372

Subject: Western Welsh 1515 (TKG 515J)
Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU4A/2R
Body: Willowbrook B45F
Location: Porthcawl, Eastern Promenade
Date: 17-Mar-1973

Cosy Corner might sound inviting but on a cold March day this terminus at the most exposed part of the promenade could be anything but cosy. Before 1968 this area had only been a departure point for services after 1630 in the high season when there would be large numbers of passengers to handle, but it then became the normal departure point.

1515 is still in original condition and livery - it won't yet have been repainted by Western Welsh and is working the service to Pontypridd jointly operated with Rhondda. Behind is Red & White RS1167 (LAX 111E) which will pass through the Rhondda valleys on its long journey back to Aberdare. The combination of services indicates that the 172 will depart at 1255 followed by the 240 at 1300.
