U569 is part way down the descent from Trebanog to Tonyrefail, with the car behind showing where Llantrisant Road branches off, this was used by the various services that went via Pretoria Road. The building on the right is a replacement for earlier cottages and seems to have been a hotel at some point but nowadays is a pair of houses with a conventional hipped roof.
The bus is from a batch of Leyland Leopards new in 1969 and was 625 until the Aug-1974 renumbering. It stayed at Porth and did eventually get NBC-style Rhondda fleet names but in this photograph still carries Western Welsh ones. It was withdrawn in 1980, lasting no longer than many of the later Tiger Cubs which is more probably a reflection of the contracting fleet following the implementation of the MAP schemes across the National Welsh network.
