Subject: National Welsh U869 (PKG 626G)
Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3A/4R
Body: Marshall B51F
Location: Cardiff bus station
Date: 30-Aug-1980
New as Western Welsh 626, this bus was renumbered U869 in Aug-1974 and then, remarkably, no further renumberings.
It's difficult to be certain, but I believe this bus is working from Porth, although the former Western Welsh depot in Cardiff is also possible. The reason I believe it is from Porth is that the destination blind, intended for a larger aperture, says "Maerdy via Porth". This would be used on the service between the two Rhondda valleys which at this date ran from Clydach Vale to Maerdy. The normal 332 display was "Maerdy via Pontypridd".
