Subject: Rhondda Buses 704 (A14 RBL) Chassis: Volvo B10M-50 Body: East Lancs DP53F Location: Cardiff bus station Date: 18-May-1996
The X10 provided an hourly daytime service from Blaencwm direct to Cardiff, timed to coordinate with the X9 to give a half-hourly express service between Tonypandy and Cardiff.
This photograph is from the time when the service was at its maximum, by later in the year it had reduced to just a couple of journeys each way every day.
The X10 service, unusually, continued from the bus station to the Ice Rink, otherwise known as Wales National Ice Rink and then proceed directly to Blaencwm from there. The ice rink was demolished in September 2006 and the John Lewis store now stands on the site.
704 is loading what perhaps was a typical number of passengers for the departure which will be immediate as the service had no layover at the bus station.
