279 is seen in its first month in service working the long former trolleybus route to Crossflatts. In the left background the roundabout used by so many terminating trolleybuses can be seen to still be in place. It was altered later that year and then trolleybuses terminating at Thornbury came to where 279 stands on Leeds Old Road.

Along with the rest of the batch, 279 was new to Saltaire depot.
