The main workshops, or Hauptwerkstätte, of Wiener Linien is in the South-east of the city, just beyond the Zentralfriedhof. It is just off the 6 tram route to Kaiserebersdorf, but is now served by special trams on the 71 service. However, the photographs pre-date the exchange of terminii between the 6 and 71 so the special trams are to be found in the 6 gallery.
The workshops deal with overhaul repair of the trams, buses and metro vehicles of Wiener Linien, as well as track fabrication. It is a large complex and features a complete tram circuit and two test tracks.
