Subject: National Welsh XR1960 (TOE 430N) Chassis: Bristol VRTSL6G Body: Metro-Cammell H43/33F Location: Pontypridd, Mill Street Date: 26-Nov-1983
This photograph makes an interesting comparison with the 1950 view of Rhondda 258 (JTG 949) at the same spot. Apart from the Sardis Road bridge visible through the right hand arch there is little major change although it appears that Humphrey's garage is longer in business. Nowadays the road is one-way and behind the viaduct the scene is dominated by a large modern building currently occupied by Trivallis, who manage social housing in Rhondda Cynon Taff. The Humphrey's building has been demolished.
XR1960 was first numbered HR7438 by National Welsh but had carried the new number since January. Along with quite a few others of the type, it had been withdrawn and was awaiting sale by early 1985.
