The elegant interior of Burnley 40 with glass lampshades in addition to curtains and seat carpets. The last feature probably didn't last too long, due to some passengers being likely to leave little visitors (such as fleas) for the unsuspecting!
Whilst this photograph at first sight appears to have been masked (by 'painting' the glass plate negative) to obscure what is outside, the accuracy and detail indicate that in this case the windows were covered with white paper on the outside for the photograph. See particularly how the frames are visible through the window where the quarter lights are open.
Bell pushes (for tall passengers only!) are in every roof coving panel, although difficult to notice due the the pattern there.
