Subject: Crosville ELL504 (OMA 504V) and National Welsh UC1168 (WUH 185T) Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3E/4R Body: Duple Dominant II C49F (OMA 504V) and Plaxton Supreme Express C49F (WUH 185T) Location: Newtown bus station Date: 30–Jul-1984
The northbound and southbound 700s would cross at Newtown where both had a forty minute refreshment halt and I believe drivers would exchange vehicles here to allow the drivers to return to their base on the same day, the vehicles normally working back the following day.
Crosville's ELL504 was quite a regular vehicle on the service at the time, based I believe at Bangor depot. It has strong connections with other parts of this gallery, having visited the Oldham area both on the trans-pennine service to Hull and in later life working for Citibus of Chadderton.
