The 151 service provided a connection from Pontypridd to Gilfach Goch which hadn't existed until 1988 with the extension of the 151's predecessor the G1. The 151 ran every thirty minutes during the day from Pontypridd, and was every fifteen minutes from Porth. At this time Rhondda Buses worked the Monday to Saturday service with Thomas Coaches running the Sunday service, but from 25-Nov-1996 the evening tendered journey during the week were operated by Shamrock.
