One of Oldham’s earlier buses, 6 is almost at Star Inn on the original service which later became the A. The Deaf and Dumb Institute on the left was at the corner of George Street. It was later demolished and the corner was landscaped in 1952.
The interests of deaf and dumb people in Oldham were later catered for by the Oldham Deaf and Dumb Society on Park Road. The premises are still in use for the same function today, now under the aegis of the Oldham Deaf Society.
