Subject: Oldham C. T. 51 Location: Mumps, Oldham Date: c.1910
51 is one of the same batch as 43, now rescued by the Manchester Transport Museum Society. New as an open-top tram, it had acquired an top cover with open balconies by the time of this photo. It is passing the end of Coronation Street as horses haul an impressive load in the other direction. The Oldham Hotel is seen on the left with its 1884 facade which was later modernised. Behind this pub were the stables used for some of Oldham’s first horse buses - a site which was later to become the Yelloway coach station.
