The extra length of these 'Darlingtons' shows quite well on this photograph - they were two feet longer than the others with this style of East Lancs body. 790 was withdrawn on 28th February 1971 and seems to have been the only vehicle whose withdrawal can be directly linked to the closure of the Allerton route.
