Subject: Cedric, Wivenhoe 24 (MUH 284X) Chassis: Leyland Olympian ONLXB/1R Body: ECW H45/32F Location: Colchester bus station Date: c.Apr-2002
MUH 284X was part of the final National Welsh fleet at Barry depot and was one of the small number of buses to be painted in the livery which would be adapted by Rhondda Buses.
It was one of a trio of Olympians that came to Porth from Barry on the final demise of National Welsh. However, it was the only one of them to work on a regular basis for Rhondda Buses which it did until 1995. After sale it passed to Luton & District (which later became Arriva The Shires) as 600, later 5064, then in 2000 it moved to Cedric, Wivenhoe where it operated initially in Luton & District livery. It ran for them until at least 2003, a very creditable period of service.
