Subject: Tellings-Golden Miller 858 (MUH 288X) Chassis: Leyland Olympian ONLXB/1R Body: ECW H45/32F Location: Pontypridd, Bridge Street Date: 12-Feb-1992
MUH 288X was painted by National Welsh in this livery around 1991 and received Rhondda fleet names as was customary at the time for buses allocated to Porth.
After the demise of Rhondda Transport at the end of 1970 the Rhondda name started to re-appear on many Western Welsh vehicles allocated to Porth in NBC days during the 1970s. It disappeared on the formation of National Welsh but then appeared again with the New Rhondda MAP (Market Analysis Project) scheme on 24-May-1981. This in turn gradually faded out but the name appeared yet again as seen here, in this instance surviving the demise of National Welsh with the new Rhondda Buses fleet adopting a very similar identity with the same fleet name.
858 is seen just a few days after the formation of Rhondda Buses when operation was under the Tellings-Golden Miller licence.
