Subject: National Welsh HR1857 (MUH 287X)
Chassis: Leyland Olympian ONLXB/1R
Body: ECW H45/32F
Location: Barry depot
Date: 6-Jul-1985
By this date the club excursions from the Rhondda to Barry were diminishing in frequency and magnitude but this Olympian and the Bristol VRT on the left are part of group making the trip in 1985. The usual numbers are in the windscreen to allow tired travellers to identify their bus for the journey back and unusually this one actually says which club has organised the trip - the Hibernia Club. That is the short name, the full name is Gelli & Ton Pentre Hibernia Workingmen's Club & Institute Ltd!
National Welsh Olympians were only ever based at two depots, Barry and Porth. Although both used them almost exclusively on services to Cardiff they seem to have been very rarely seen together at the bus station. However, that on the right is a Barry depot bus. Note the different approach to the local identifier labels.
