Subject: National Welsh 3 (C103 HKG) Chassis: Ford Transit 190D Body: Robin Hood B16F (on Dormobile shell) Location: Cardiff, Custom House Street Date: c.1992
3 is working the hourly P6 to Castle Avenue and, having turned out of The Hayes some distance back, is heading to the junction with St. Mary Street that was at one time the terminus of the single-deck trolleybus service down Bute Street. These trolleybuses ran along the section of street seen here in the opposite direction, turning right at The Golden Cross.
The Golden Cross is a notable pub. Rebuilt in its present form in 1904 it was threatened with demolition to build the busy ring road here, nowadays much quieter. However, due its impressive tiling both outside and inside it was saved, now being Grade II listed.
