Subject: Western Welsh 2392 (392 WTG) and 2390 (390 WTG)
Chassis: Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1/11
Body: Willowbrook DP41F (392 WTG) and B45F (390 WTG)
Location: Porth depot
Date: early-1970s

An opportunity to compare the bus and dual-purpose versions of this batch at the depot. As can be seen the difference was mainly related to livery, seating and mouldings although the absence of the small upper grille on the dual-purpose version also implies a change to the heating and ventilation system.

392 WTG can just be seen to be carrying its new Western Welsh fleet number so the photograph is no earlier than 1971. The 535 service on which it had worked was a renumbering of the R35 service from Tonypandy to Ferndale via Penrhys which was only introduced around 1970 and by 1974 had been linked to an extended 527 Clydach Vale to Tonypandy service.
