The 555 route ran from Porth to Ferndale but made several detours from the main road. From Porth the first was to Heath Terrace, followed by Stanleytown. A rather tricky turn back into Penrhys Road then followed to bring the bus up to here where it is seen turning into Parry Street.
This then took it along above the main road by following Vivian Street, Hendrefadog Street and Brynheulog Terrace, rejoining East Road to get to Ferndale. It then continued to serve Darran and Rhondda Terraces, above Ferndale, but this part of the service was variable and latterly only on Thursdays and Fridays.
