Subject: Phillips, Penrhiwceiber STG 869
Chassis: AEC Regent V MD3RV
Body: Weymann H33/28RD
Location: Penrhiwceiber, Rheola Street
Date: late-1960s

The first of the Regent Vs was 298 and it was also one of the first to be withdrawn in 1967. Following this it was sold via North's to Phillips of Penrhiwceiber and fitted with platform doors, as can be seen here.

Phillips depot was just up the hill from where it is seen here, towards Abercynon. STG 869 is on the approach road to Penrhiwceiber Colliery but probably of greater significance to the location of this photograph is that the registered office of Phillips was 1, Rheola Street.

Phillips went on to buy two 30-foot long Regent Vs from Rhondda a few years later and the first of these replaced STG 869 at the beginning of 1973.
