696 trundles along a peaceful Rooley Lane. To the right is what had been the Bowling Park Poor Law Institution. This became a hospital and old people's home. Nowadays Rooley Lane is a six-lane dual-carriageway fed from the motorway and on the site of the Park Hospital is the head office of the Yorkshire Building Society.
