AMHUF49o

Subject: Bradford C. T. 802 (HUF 49)
Chassis: BUT 9611T
Body: Weymann H33/26R
Location: Bolton, Idle Road
Date: 3-Nov-1962

The slight uphill gradient seems to lend 802 even more of a sense of elegance than normal. These ex-Brighton trolleybuses were nicely appointed and featured Alhambrinal ceilings. The driver has deployed the chock correctly and has left the cab for a chat with the conductor. The bus appears to be a little bit too far forward - the booms are so close to the frog it's unlikely another trolleybus could pass without hitting them.

802 now carries standard fleet livery with cream lower deck window surrounds, after being one of several members of the fleet to receive the experimental livery with blue surrounds.

Like the Wakefield Road routes, this service is also little-photographed. Whilst understandable given that it didn't serve the city centre, it had significant historic interest as the first trolleybus route in the UK, although this section was a later extension.
