Subject: Rhondda Buses 701 (A19 RBL)
Chassis: Leyland Tiger TRBTL11/2RP
Body: Plaxton Derwent 3000 B54F
Location: Porth, Tynewydd Square
Date: 9-May-1996

701 was re-registered A19 RBL in early 1995. It now carries the school children symbol and like all of 700-702 has had it moved from the corner where it was presumably not deemed sufficiently visible, the dark patch indicating where it was previously. As a consequence the fleet number plate has also moved.

701 had a complex and long subsequent history. Withdrawn in mid-1997 it passed first to South Lancs Transport (Arriva Lancashire) as their 849, at the same time being re-registered 49 XBF. With the split of Arriva Lancashire into other Arriva fleets it then became Arriva North West 849. It later moved to Arriva Midlands North in which fleet it was first 1649 then later 3039. It finally passed to TM Travel, having been restored to its original registration before the sale.
