Although not readily visible on the web, this interior view of the first Dunfermline car carries a maker's transfer showing that it was built for The British Thomson-Houston Company (BTH) by The United Electric Car Company.

Although I have been unable to confirm it, this indicates that the main contractor for the tramway was BTH. The tramway itself was owned by the Fife Electric Power Company, which was a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty.
