Subject: City of Cardiff 42-46/51 batch Chassis: Crossley DD42/5 Body: Alexander L27/26R Location: Edwardsville, Cardiff Road Date: early 1950s
A nice vintage postcard of Edwardsville enhanced by the fortuitous presence of a Cardiff Crossley on its way to Merthyr Tydfil. It has not been possible to identify which of the batch it is.
It is approaching the junction with the A470, having completed its loop round Treharris. It is passing a K3 telephone kiosk, a design used from 1929 to 1935 and painted cream with red window frames. It was made principally from concrete which is probably the main reason that there are now only two survivors out of the twelve thousand or so made.
