501 is showing little evidence of Western Welsh ownership even after twenty months and is still in as-built condition, albeit not as shiny. It is on the 530 service from Maerdy to Llwynypia and is approaching Tylorstown with Ferndale in the distance.
Largely hidden by the bus and since removed is Ferndale's 'banana' tip, spoil from the colliery that followed the course of the river using what little space was available on the valley floor.
