Wynn's EDW 96 and NSWGR 4601 Oldham Union Street

Subject: Wynn’s 161 (EDW 96) hauling NSWGR 4601
Location: Oldham, Union Street
Date: c.1956

The third and final view of New South Wales Government Railways loco 4601 on its way through Oldham. Here the load is heading along Union Street past the earlier offices of Hirst, Kidd and Rennie, owners of the Oldham Chronicle newspaper which went out of business at the end of August 2017. In between is a typical Oldham Corporation bus shelter which has clearly just been painted.

On the extreme left is part of what was at the time the Victory cinema, since demolished and replaced by apartments. The rather grand club building to the right had latterly been an Indian restaurant but is currently unused.
