Subject: Pontypridd UDC 88 (873 MTG) Chassis: Guy Arab IV 6LW Body: Roe H33/26R Location: Pontypridd, Rhondda Road Date: 1960s
It's difficult to imagine that this was the principal road route into the Rhondda Valleys, funnelled through this narrow bridge which nonetheless was able to accommodate two tram tracks in the days when trams provided the service here. The bridge had its one second of fame as it appears very briefly early in the British Transport Film "Every Valley".
88 is heading into Pontypridd on the service from Porth. The bridge and road are still there, but it is now one way the direction 88 is travelling.
