Once upon a time the Taff Vale Railway Nelson branch used to cross the road here on a viaduct and there was a halt here known as Llanfabon Road Platform. However, that line saw its last train on 10th September 1932 and the road now follows the rail alignment at this point, after a complete re-modelling of the junction.
