Heading towards Cardiff on the 701 this coach, new in Oct-1981 as UC8109, had just been renumbered earlier in the month of the photograph. It is in the very plain all-white scheme this batch initially carried.
Gwyddrug is between Carmarthen and New Inn and this section of road includes the one part of the route where the Aberystwyth to Cardiff return trip took a different route (via Pencader) to the main service which went instead this way via New Inn. This alternative routing was introduced in 1982 and continued throughout the period covered by this gallery.
