Merthyr Tydfil's initial PD2/12 orders were delayed due to coachbuilder issues. The first five should have had D. J. Davies bodies but only two did, the other three gaining Longwell Green bodies. The next batch of five were originally ordered with Massey bodies but were actually built by Park Royal.

83 is looking in fine fettle here even though by this time it is almost two years old.
