Subject: Southend C.T. 152 (JN 822) Chassis: AEC Regal 662 Body: English Electric B30D Location: Preston, Watery Lane Date: 1931
This was one of seven AEC Regals bodied for Southend as part of Contract No 3000. They became 150-156 (JN 820-826) and were delivered in March 1931. However, they didn't enter service until the following year as Southend, who had previously only operated motorbuses briefly in 1914-16, had now fully understood the licensing requirement introduced in the 1930 Road Traffic Act and initially they had use for the vehicles. It was 5-Jul-1932 before they operated in service.
