Subject: Blackpool C. T. railcoaches Maker: English Electric Bogie: English Electric (not yet fitted) Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr works Date: late-1933
No less than seventeen of this batch of twenty-four English Electric railcoaches are visible here in various stages of construction. This high level of activity enabled the whole batch to enter service in a period of just over two months.
Whilst the cars in the centre look more finished, there is a lot to do with the interior to fit out and all the electrical work still to complete. The underframe on the left is of interest as it shows very clearly the way the floor sloped towards the central well.
